Book Description

Through personal stories and biblical wisdom, the award-winning authors of Hope When It Hurts remind us that weakness isn’t the end of our story—it’s the very place Jesus meets us.

“Kristen Wetherell and Sarah Walton serve as wise and understanding guides through the all-too-common struggles we all have with loneliness, fear, doubt, and grief.”—Nancy Guthrie, author and bible teacher

Pain changes everything. It changes how people pray, how they hope, and how they relate to God.

Many of us are walking through something hard: chronic illness, deep loss, lingering doubt, or a season that just won’t let up. Authors Kristen Wetherell and Sarah Walton know what that’s like. They’ve lived it too.

This book journeys through the Gospels to meet Jesus in the ordinary and the hard places of life, inviting readers to experience his nearness in a new way. At the center of the Christian story is this astonishing truth: God does not stay distant from human suffering. Jesus took on flesh and stepped into the world—its limits, its grief, and its pain.

This book offers truth and comfort to those caught in life’s darkest moments, including:

  • When the miracle doesn’t come
  • When death seems to win
  • When you feel alone in your doubts
  • When you feel like a bad Christian
  • When you wonder if God is punishing you
  • When you feel misunderstood
  • When fear consumes you

Strength is not required to come to him. He has already come near. And even here, in the hard place, he is with us.

Endorsements

"In Jesus Will Meet You There, my friends Kristen Wetherell and Sarah Walton serve as wise and understanding guides through the all-too-common struggles we all have with loneliness, fear, doubt, and grief. They don't offer easy answers or trite formulas. Rather, they provide sound insight into who Jesus has shown himself to be and what he has shown he will do--to help us navigate our very real struggles in this world."
--Nancy Guthrie, author and bible teacher

"As we face difficulties, we tend to be far more focused on our own weaknesses, sins, and the painful struggles than we are on God's kind presence. Thankfully, Kristen Wetherell and Sarah Walton write out of the depths of their experiences, avoiding cliches while still gently reminding us that we are creatures with good limits who are deeply known and loved by our compassionate God. What we discover is that our God meets us in Christ and by his Spirit, offering us needed courage as we face the challenges of life."
--Kelly M. Kapic, author of You're Only Human
