Author
Carl H. Bogatzky (1690-1774) was a famed Pietist and is considered one of the outstanding hymn writers of Continental Protestantism. Disowned by his father for refusing to serve in the army, he devoted himself to the study of theology at Halle, where Francke, Anton, Freylinghausen, and other Pietists greatly influenced him. While at Halle, he began for his own edification, to develop this work. First published in 1718, the volume consists of daily readings, prayers, and hymns, for each day of the year.
