Book Description:

The book of Jude is small enough to be easily passed over, but here Danny Hyde shows that to do so would be a mistake: Those who are content in knowing the Triune God of grace are called to contend in the name of the Triune God for that grace. Those who have been blessed with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3-14) are to fight against every spiritual force of evil (Ephesians 6:10-20). But there is more than that - Jude's message is shown here to be urgent and timely for the day in which we live, the battles that the church was facing then full of relevance for our own day.

Daniel R. Hyde (Th.M., Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary) is the Pastor of Oceanside United Reformed Church in Carlsbad, California. He is author of over a dozen books including Welcome to a Reformed Church: A Guide for Pilgrims and co-author of A Well-Ordered Church and Thessalonians: From the Pen of Pastor Paul (EP Books). He also serves as an adjunct instructor at Mid-America Reformed Seminary and Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary.

Content Yet Contending rightly spotlights the small and often overlooked Epistle of Jude, which has momentous relevance to the church in our doctrinally confused and indifferent times. Danny Hyde's exposition is a fitting combination of the pastoral and polemical-since protecting Jesus' sheep from Satan's attractive but lethal lies demands that their shepherds discerningly expose and resist any and all spiritual predators. ----Dr. Dennis E. Johnson, Professor of Practical Theology, Westminster Seminary California, Escondido, CA

Jude is a small letter with a big message for the church. Danny Hyde's expository commentary on Jude is an accessible and thoughtful guide to a New Testament book that is not as well known as it should be. With clarity and boldness, Hyde helps us to see the ongoing relevance of Jude's message for the contemporary church- exhorting us to remain faithful to the teaching of Scripture; calling us to godly living, and warning us against false teachers in the church. Content Yet Contending is a welcome cure for complacency and a strong stimulus to persevere in the Christian life. I warmly commend it. ---Dr. Guy Waters, James M. Baird, Jr. Professor of New Testament, Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, MS
