When someone stole some wood from their woodpile, it presented a good opportunity for Father to explain to Pedro and his brothers that God does not want us to harm those who do us wrong but to love them.

Pedro lay very still. Yes, there it was again. The bed was shaking. Now the rafters were beginning to creak. "Mother!" Pedro cried. "I'm afraid." Mother was soon at his side. "Remember God is watching over you," Mother comforted him.
